Photo-dump: Week 3

First week of classes: done!  And can I just say that the education I'm getting here is already vastly superior to that which I have experienced at VCU for the past two years?  Have I mentioned this already?  Maybe I should have opted for honors classes, but it's too late now.

Here's a collection of photos from this past week:

Apparently there has been an indoor room to store our bikes in the dorm all along.  I guess it took me awhile to find it primarily because of the misleading sign on the door:

Safe from weather and thieves!  Kind of awkward to maneuver through three separate doors while unlocking two of them and pushing a bike and carrying groceries/ a backpack, but I'm managing and am very grateful for this location!

I had a break in between two classes and couldn't bear to sit inside with the nice weather so I found this bridge to eat my lunch on.  Of course I also took pics of the surroundings.

I spent another day reading on the roof of my building and got a tad distracted by the gorgeous view again.

This was the sunset behind me as I rode back from my 5-9 pm lecture class.  After daylight savings, it'll be pitch black during my ride :(

The neighborhood has these big stone...things throughout the property.  I sat under one to read the other day.

Last night, Kamila and I went to a Bollywood Festival in Oosterpark.  I immediatley got my samosa fix.  OM NOM NOM.  Kamila got a similar dish but it was too spicy for her soooo I got to eat it.  YES.

Compared to other Indian gatherings I've been to, this one was a little sad because there were only like 5 Indian people who showed up.

Because there wasn't too much going on, Kamila and I walked around the park for a bit.  We found this group filming a video...

...this wading pool...

...this courteous bathroom stall...

...and shelter under some trees from the rain.

We finally got to see some dancing (video here):

After the dance, we sat on the benches waiting for something else to happen.  This man approached us, offered to buy us Coke/ beer, told us we were beautiful, and asked if we had boyfriends.  Perhaps this is a cultural thing but I personally felt uncomfortable and so we left.  AND CAME HOME TO THIS EPIC RAINBOW.

Overall, I'd say it was a pretty satisfactory week.  Samosas and school; what more could I ask for?
