Writing a 300 word essay about a topic I don't understand doesn't seem so bad after what Kamila told me about her friend's Russian university.
Her friend, who is an engineer major, has to take classes that don't apply to her major, such as history and literature. This means that a literature major has to take classes like math and physics. It isn't a way for the students to explore different fields to make sure they've chosen the right major because you can't switch majors once you've chosen. You just have to take these classes anyway.
In total, the friend has to take 10 classes/ semester, which means 8 hours of school Monday- Saturday starting at 8 a.m. Also, you have to do 20 hours of work for the school if you get caught smoking (cigarettes) on your outdoor balcony, and in other universities you can get expelled for smoking on campus.
WHAT.
