CRAP

I went to the foreign police this morning to register, and they said I was supposed to already have a residence permit.  I thought the school was going to apply for it for me.

So I went through some old emails:

"We sent your residence permit application to the IND (Dutch Immigration). As soon as your residence permit is approved, we will update your track status in Embark. You can however enter the Netherlands before it has been approved."

I checked the website and my status...apparently the photo I sent was rejected in June because it "was not a real photo but a print on paper."  I never got an email, but I guess it was my responsibility to keep checking the website.  I have a 15 minute meeting with the school on Friday but I'm freaking out a little bit.  I found some photo paper in the common room but don't have access to a printer yet.  I posted on the building's Facebook page but there are only 8 members so far.  Maybe an RA will respond?

I do have a temporary visa from the foreign police until November 13, so hopefully I can get it sorted by then!  I also saved all my application paperwork (I hope) and will bring my laptop to the appointment on Friday so I can get this together.

If anything, I'll be hanging in Amsterdam until November and then getting deported because I'm an idiot who spent a crap ton of money on this trip and got screwed over because the IND doesn't recognize matte photo paper as a-okay for business.

But then I can see everyone and maybe get credit for the classes I'll be taking in the first block of the semester.  It'll be okay either way.
